About Lucy Hyland and Food for Living

Food for Living was set up by Lucy Hyland, a trained nutritional therapist and Ballymaloe Qualified Chef, who decided to combine her great love of food and health to create a unique offering for anyone suffering with a nutritional or health issue.

Introducing Lucy

In demonstrating that health is not just about weighing scales, Lucy wants her clients to feel good, look good and think more clearly. Having been on her own personal health journey, she was drawn to understand more about the link between food and wellbeing. Her work centres on improving the options available to the food industry as well as working with people to show them just how easy it is to cook healthy recipes and eat well on a daily basis.

Lucy runs her own nutritional advice sessions through her clinic where she sees clients on an individual, one-to-one basis OR via Skype and helps them bring positive food habits into their lifestyle. The clinic is at the forefront of Cork Nutrition and is based in one of Cork’s newest Medical Centres: Elmwood Medical Practice Frankfield, Douglas, Cork.

Lucy also carries out work for a range of companies in the food sector by:

- Advising Food Producers on developing a clear health message and promote the health benefits of their products

- Designing health-based menus and recipes for caterers and food outlets

More about Lucy

Following years of traveling and eating around the world, Lucy returned home to study more about the foods and flavours she discovered along the way. She studied Nutritional Therapy for over three years where she learnt more about the evidence-based approach linking food to health.

However, in order to express her creativity and passion for real food, she spent a year in a Dublin-based cookery school and then went on to attend Ballymaloe for three months, where she obtained her certification. This allows Lucy to create tailored food programmes and healthy recipes for all her clients.

Lucy’s mission is to empower people to make better choices for their health by educating them on the health promoting properties of food.

Some of Lucy’s thoughts on change:

“People generally feel that changing their habits of a lifetime is a big deal. And in some ways there are right. Yet, the changes that I have seen in people walking out my door in clinic are encouraging me that it is possible. I believe that once you arm people with a good sound knowledge of appropriate eating patterns and then give them achievable goals and the practical skills to carry them out, you are on to a winner. Food for Living aims to make healthy eating a lot easier…

One of Lucy’s customers:

Thanks a million Lucy. Your one-to-one sessions where very relaxed and informative. The diet tips were easy to following and the receipts were easy to do. I noticed the results straight away. Would recommend everyone go see you.”

Colleen, Cork
